Afrobeats icon Davido has strongly criticized the legal representative of Sophia Momodu following a tense courtroom clash connected to custody arrangements for their daughter, Imade Adeleke.
The confrontation occurred during a court appearance centered on Davido’s request for shared parental rights. Emotions escalated when the opposing counsel questioned his ability to ensure his daughter’s safety, referencing the painful death of his young son, Ifeanyi, in October 2022.
That statement reportedly triggered an intense reaction from the singer, disrupting the court session and forcing a temporary suspension of proceedings. When the hearing resumed, the presiding judge advised Davido to apologise for the courtroom exchange, but he declined, insisting he could not offer an apology over remarks he considered deeply offensive and inappropriate.
After leaving the courtroom, Davido turned to social media to express his frustration, accusing the lawyer of behaving in an unprofessional and insensitive manner. He voiced particular anger over the mention of his late son, describing it as an unacceptable tactic given the emotional trauma he and his family endured.
In his message, the artist did not hold back in his condemnation, calling the lawyer’s conduct unjustifiable and hurtful. He maintained that he had firmly defended himself during the hearing and expressed disbelief that such a personal tragedy was used during legal arguments.
He also shared his emotional response to the moment, suggesting that no parent who has endured such loss should be subjected to similar treatment. His remarks reflected both grief and outrage, underscoring how deeply the courtroom incident affected him.
The exchange has since sparked widespread public reaction, with fans and observers weighing in on the situation and debating whether personal tragedies should ever be referenced during legal disputes involving family matters.
