Nigerian music star Davido has taken a swipe at Jubril A. Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after Gawat shared a post promoting Wizkid’s upcoming December 28 concert at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).
Gawat had posted the concert flyer with the caption “Ọmọ wa ni,” sparking excitement among Wizkid’s fans. When a follower hailed Wizkid as “the face of Lagos,” Gawat responded, “Yes, correct. We are proud of him.”
Another user then asked about Davido’s standing: “Ore oga nko?”
Gawat replied that his principal—Governor Sanwo-Olu—was proud of Wizkid.
This triggered Davido, who accused Gawat of still holding onto past grievances.
“Bro, it’s been a year—let it go. Why e still dey do you? Grow up. Since yesterday… let it go nah… cheer up,” Davido wrote, referencing an earlier tweet by Gawat.
The exchange marks yet another round in their ongoing online hostility.
Back in September 2024, Davido and Gawat had locked horns over political issues following the Edo State governorship election. The tension began when Davido criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as “dangerous.”
Gawat, a loyal APC supporter, fired back with cryptic responses, prompting Davido to escalate the confrontation and reference previous run-ins involving Governor Sanwo-Olu.
