Nigerian Grammy Award-winning singer Davido, born David Adeleke, has opened up about his close bond with his logistics manager, Israel DMW.
During a Livestream with Nigerian skitmaker Carter Efe, Davido drew parallels between the friendship of Carter Efe and Kolu and his own relationship with Israel DMW.
Davido revealed that despite being mocked by many for their closeness, Israel is one of his best friends and someone he can confide in during difficult times.
He said, “A lot of people laugh at me and Israel, but he is one of my best friends and someone I can cry to. And that’s just life.”
In another update, Davido explained how his collaboration with fellow artist Omah Lay came about, clarifying misconceptions about their relationship.
Back in 2024, Omah Lay had admitted he thought Davido “hated” him—until the DMW boss played Omah Lay’s songs during a popular livestream with American streamer Kai Cenat in Lagos.
Davido recalled noticing Omah Lay’s tweet after the livestream and reaching out to him. Their interactions eventually led to their collaboration on the song With You.
He explained, “Kai Cenat came to Nigeria, and I was driving him to the club when Omah Lay’s song came on. He asked, ‘Who is this?’ I said, ‘Oh! This is Omah Lay, he’s hot.’ The next day, Omah Lay tweeted, ‘Wow! Davido gave me a shoutout on a livestream, I thought he hated me.’ I DMed him, ‘Why would you think I hate you? We’ve never met.’ We eventually exchanged numbers, worked on about four songs, and chose ‘With You’ to release.”
