Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has urged people to quit living their lives solely to satisfy others, warning that constantly saying “yes” to avoid upsetting people often leads to self-neglect and emotional exhaustion.
The actress, who is contesting for the position of Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Southwest, shared the advice in a post on her Instagram page.
Amusa stressed that individuals must learn to protect their time, peace, and happiness instead of sacrificing them for people who do not value their wellbeing. She added that there is nothing wrong with walking away from those who cannot respect boundaries, and no one should feel guilty about prioritizing their own life.
“The world does not owe anyone,” she wrote, emphasizing that people are products of their choices, not their circumstances.
She encouraged her followers to stop complaining, take full responsibility for their lives, and draw strength from within to overcome challenges. According to her, with a determined mindset and the right circle of people, anyone can rise above difficulties.
Amusa concluded by urging everyone not to let any person, situation, or circumstance define them, but instead to boldly take charge of their own lives.
