The death toll from the August 27 police shooting at the Owode Onírin Spare Parts Market in Lagos has risen to six, with grieving families renewing their calls for justice.
The tragic incident began when four Mobile Police officers, reportedly led by Abiodun Hakeem Ariori, stormed the market during a violent operation. Eyewitnesses said the officers opened fire indiscriminately, killing four traders on the spot.
Two more victims have since succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities to six. Families of the deceased, alongside fellow traders, are demanding accountability and prosecution of those responsible for the killings.
