Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has issued a heartfelt public apology to her colleague Kemity after missing her event.
In a post shared on Instagram, Debbie explained that she had intended to attend but was held back by personal duties, particularly matters involving her mother. She noted that this was not the first time she had promised to attend Kemity’s events but could not, which made the situation even more painful for her.
Debbie admitted that she woke up feeling troubled about her absence and reflected on why it affected her so deeply. Despite planning and assuring herself she would attend this year, she still could not make it, leaving her disappointed and compelled to apologize publicly.
She wrote:
“I was supposed to be somewhere yesterday but couldn’t because of my mother’s duty. I have been feeling bad about it till this morning. I woke up with a mood swing.
I realized it’s because I couldn’t make it to that event yesterday, despite having planned and sworn to attend it this year.
I am so sorry for being unable to attend your event again, @kemity. I feel really heartbroken because I am a fan of your craft, and I know you appreciate me too. This isn’t the first or second time you’ve invited me; circumstances have affected my coming before.
I promised myself that this year I would be there, but again, I couldn’t. Please, I am sorry for not honouring your invitation. It really hurts me, hence why I’m publicly writing this.
Peele Night will grow bigger every year, and by God’s grace, I will be in attendance in the coming years. I love you, and you know it @kemity.
Your craft, growth, personality, loyalty, focus, determination, composure, and resilience… all on a 💯. May your light forever shine!”
Debbie’s apology reflects her deep respect for Kemity and her genuine regret for missing the event.
