The Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has cautioned Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, against dumping the party on whose platform he was elected.

Following the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) victory in the recent local government election, reports suggest the party has been making moves to lure Fubara into its fold in a bid to consolidate political control in the state.

Speaking in an interview with Punch, Osadolor urged the governor to resist such pressure, warning that defecting to the APC would erode the goodwill he currently enjoys from the people of Rivers State.

He said:
“Rivers people freely gave their mandate to Sim Fubara on the PDP platform. They saw the APC on the ballot and still chose him under the PDP. If he defects, he will be throwing away that goodwill. What he owes Rivers people today is not defection but good governance that will justify their trust and ensure posterity vindicates him.”

Osadolor further criticized President Bola Tinubu’s role in the ongoing political crisis, describing the introduction of a military administrator in the state as unconstitutional.

“The suspension of Governor Fubara was actually engineered by President Tinubu, who, instead of apologising to Nigerians, is attempting to justify and rationalise the illegality visited on Rivers people. It is a brazen assault on the constitution and a grave threat to our democracy,” he added.
