Umar Idris Shuaibu, a close aide to former Kano State Governor and ex‑APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against underestimating Ganduje’s influence if he hopes to secure success in the 2027 elections.

In an interview with Punch, Shuaibu highlighted Ganduje’s strategic acumen, extensive experience, and powerful political network as essential assets for the ruling party’s electoral prospects.

He pointed out that during Ganduje’s leadership as APC National Chairman, the party witnessed a series of high-profile defections that significantly strengthened its national presence.

Shuaibu stated, “Ganduje possesses an in-depth understanding of Nigerian politics at all levels. He handles challenges with foresight and strategy, converting potential crises into opportunities to grow and unify the party. If the APC aims to win in 2027, the President cannot overlook the value Ganduje brings.”

He added that Ganduje played a pivotal role in recruiting key figures from rival parties and grassroots movements, shifting political dynamics in several states.

“He successfully persuaded influential opposition members to join the APC, forging alliances that reshaped the political map. These actions were more than symbolic; they translated into tangible electoral gains,” Shuaibu emphasized.

Shuaibu further stressed, “Few leaders combine Ganduje’s experience, political insight, and strategic foresight. He reads the political terrain and positions the party to maximise its chances of victory. In Kano, almost all major political actors have aligned with the APC under his influence, effectively consolidating the state in favour of the party.”
