Former Ebonyi State governorship candidate Chukwuma Ifeanyi Odii has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his formal association with the party that supported his 2023 election bid.

The announcement was made through a letter dated Thursday, January 1, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Amanator Ward, Isuachara, in Onicha Local Government Area. In the correspondence, Odii explained that the decision followed careful consultations with his family and close advisors.

“I write to officially inform you that, following wide consultation with my family and close associates, I have taken a considered decision to resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” Odii stated in the letter.

He expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members for providing him the platform to contest the 2023 governorship election. “I wish to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity and platform provided for me, which I utilized in contesting as a governorship candidate during the 2023 general election. I remain grateful for the support, cooperation, and goodwill extended to me throughout my engagement with the party,” he added.

The letter served as Odii’s formal notice of resignation, but he did not disclose his future political plans or next steps following his departure from the PDP.
