Nigerian rapper Oladips has alleged that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) collected ₦10 million from him before securing his release from detention.

Speaking during an appearance on the Trending podcast, the music star recounted his ordeal with the anti-graft agency, nearly a year after he was arrested in a late-night raid at his estate.

Oladips noted that he and some residents were apprehended over alleged internet fraud in November 2024 and held for five days, despite investigators reportedly finding no incriminating evidence against him.

Describing the experience as dehumanising, he revealed that fellow artiste Zlatan Ibile sent food to him while in custody because of the poor meals served to detainees.

“They didn’t find anything on me, not even a single thing. Yet I spent four to five days there, and they still collected ₦10 million before releasing me,” he lamented, adding that the situation was simply “Nigeria happening” to him.

When asked if he planned to seek redress against the agency, Oladips said he was unsure how to challenge the system, stating that he has “no godfather” to back him up.

He insisted that he was innocent and maintained that his detention and the money collected from him had no justification.
