Egypt’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, has stated that his team is committed to securing a podium finish in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they prepare to face Nigeria in the third-place match on Saturday.
The Pharaohs will take on the Super Eagles at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 PM Nigerian time.
After a narrow 1-0 loss to Senegal in Tuesday’s semi-final, Egypt are eager to end their tournament on a high. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Hassan highlighted his squad’s focus and determination.
“We will fight for victory tomorrow to secure a podium finish and close the AFCON on a positive note,” the experienced coach said.
Egyptian winger Mahmoud Hassan, popularly known as Trezeguet, reiterated the team’s resolve, insisting that the Pharaohs are ready to challenge Nigeria.
“Nigeria has a strong squad with talented players, but we are completely focused on winning and finishing the AFCON with a positive result,” Trezeguet remarked.
Gossip News Now also notes that Egypt defeated Nigeria 1-0 in a friendly encounter just days before the tournament began.
While the Super Eagles and Egypt vie for third place, host nation Morocco is set to face Senegal in the AFCON final on Sunday, January 18, at 8:00 PM.
