Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged residents to ignore recent statements and political actions by certain opposition leaders, dismissing them as mere distractions fueled by selfish motives.

According to Gossip News Now , Otti made the remarks on Saturday during the dedication of a newly built Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Umuoriehi, Umuahia North Local Government Area.

His comments were in response to reports that former Abia governors Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu were forming an alliance aimed at preventing his re-election.

Otti criticized the three political figures, stating that they had governed Abia in the past but failed to make meaningful progress for the state.

He insisted that their alleged gang-up was driven purely by personal ambition and not by the desire to improve the lives of the people of Abia.

“These are the same individuals who had every opportunity to transform Abia but didn’t,” Otti said, expressing confidence that any coalition against his administration would fall apart on its own.

Reacting to earlier comments made by the church’s pastor, the governor urged citizens not to be distracted by political noise.

He stated, “Pastor Uguru mentioned the noise some of you may have heard in the last few days. I want us to simply wave it aside. It’s just noise—and as you know, it’s the empty barrels that make the loudest noise.”

Otti added that the opposition group represents only a small minority and assured the congregation that God’s plan for the state would not be derailed.

He emphasized that no one should worry about the situation, saying, “God doesn’t make mistakes, and He doesn’t abandon His projects.”

The governor reassured worshippers that his administration remains committed to delivering meaningful development to Abia State, stressing that political distractions would not divert him from his objectives.

He reaffirmed his mission to transform governance in the state and urged residents to stay united, focused, and supportive of ongoing reforms.
