Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has suggested that he remains unfazed by the public reactions trailing his expected defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled for January 12, 2026.

According to reports, some political groups in the state view Yusuf’s anticipated move as timely, arguing that joining the ruling party at the federal level would allow Kano to benefit from alignment with the centre. However, members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) see the development as a betrayal of confidence reposed in him by Kwankwasiyya leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a video obtained by Daily Post, Yusuf addressed his supporters and made it clear that he prefers taking action over engaging in lengthy debates or public commentary.

He said, “I have never responded to the discussions surrounding this matter because I don’t believe in too much talk.”

Quoting a popular Hausa singer, he added, “What began as something small has now been amplified. As everyone knows, I am not a man of long speeches.”

Yusuf emphasized that he is driven by impactful actions rather than endless conversations. “I’m a man of action — action that benefits my people. That is what guides me, not unnecessary talk,” he said.

Meanwhile, the NNPP has reversed the indefinite suspension placed on Governor Yusuf in 2025. This followed the conclusion of an internal inquiry into allegations of misconduct linked to disputes involving Rabiu Kwankwaso and his loyalists.

The party’s decision was made public in a statement on Tuesday.

Signed by the NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major, the statement notes that the suspension was lifted after the party reviewed findings from the investigative committee set up to examine the matter.

According to the NNPP, the National Working Committee (NWC), in consultation with the party’s Founder and members of the Board of Trustees, reached the decision during an emergency meeting held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
