Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met privately with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Tanimu Turaki, as the party continues to grapple with internal tensions.
Gossip News Now gathered that Turaki, along with members of the NWC and a number of selected state chairmen, arrived at Jonathan’s Maitama office in Abuja around 5:45 p.m.
The delegation pulled up in a convoy of six Sports Utility Vehicles, reflecting the seriousness and high-level nature of the visit.
According to reports by The PUNCH, party insiders revealed that the meeting was organized to address the escalating internal challenges within the PDP and to review ongoing strategies designed to strengthen and restructure the party ahead of upcoming elections.
Sources also indicated that the conversation would likely extend to wider national matters, considering Jonathan’s influence as a former head of state and a prominent figure in the party.
“The leadership considered it necessary to consult with the former president, update him on recent developments, and seek his advice,” one source reportedly said.
Jonathan, who remains highly regarded within the PDP, has previously taken on quiet mediation efforts to resolve disputes and mend divisions among party members.
As of the time this report was compiled, the meeting was still underway, and neither the PDP leadership nor Jonathan’s media team had released an official statement.
