The Lagos State Government has rejected reports circulating across social media and various online platforms alleging a dispute between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, dismissing the claims as unfounded and misleading.
In a statement released on Thursday by Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser to the Lagos Governor on Media and Publicity, the government clarified that there is no issue between the two leaders.
The statement explained that Governor Sanwo-Olu had been informed of false reports suggesting tension in his relationship with Governor Abiodun.
“We want to make it absolutely clear that this information is incorrect. In fact, the reality is quite the opposite,” the statement emphasized.
Akosile highlighted that both governors maintain a warm, respectful, and cooperative relationship, adding that they are in regular contact and often meet to discuss areas of shared interest.
“The two governors relate closely, meet frequently, and hold ongoing discussions about the progress and development of their states,” he noted.
He further explained that the strong bond between Lagos and Ogun is reinforced by their shared borders and deep socio-cultural and economic connections.
The Lagos State Government also warned those spreading what it described as fabricated stories aimed at stirring conflict between the two leaders to stop immediately.
“We advise individuals attempting to sow division between the two governors with falsehoods to desist, as both Prince Dapo Abiodun and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remain united in their mission to enhance the welfare and living standards of their citizens,” the statement concluded.
