The Federal Government has dismissed allegations that Nigerian scholarship students in Morocco have been neglected, describing the reports as misleading, baseless, and intentionally designed to create public confusion.

According to Gossip News Now, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, issued a clarification through the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Boriowo Folasade, confirming that all legitimate scholarship beneficiaries continue to receive government backing.

Alausa reiterated that no Nigerian student with a valid Federal Government scholarship has been left without support, noting that every student under the Bilateral Education Scholarship Programme admitted before 2024 has been funded up to the 2024 fiscal year, in accordance with the government’s commitments.

He explained that the delay in disbursement stems from financial constraints but assured that the issue is being handled through active engagements between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.

The minister also debunked reports claiming that new bilateral scholarship awards were issued in October 2025 or afterward, stressing that the documents circulated online are “fabricated and not officially recognised.”

Alausa further clarified that the government’s decision to halt certain foreign scholarship schemes followed an extensive policy review which concluded that Nigerian institutions — universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education — are now capable of delivering these programmes domestically.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to the welfare of Nigerian students and warned against the spread of falsehoods aimed at undermining policy reforms designed to build national capacity and safeguard the credibility of the education sector.

The minister added that the ongoing reforms are focused on enhancing transparency, ensuring accountability, and promoting responsible use of public funds.
