Former PDP Youth Leader MaiBasira Resigns From Party

A notable figure within the Peoples Democratic Party, Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira, has formally stepped away from the party, bringing an end to his long-standing association with the political organization.

MaiBasira, who previously served as both National Youth Leader and National Financial Secretary of the party, confirmed that his resignation takes immediate effect.

The decision was conveyed through a letter dated December 22, 2025. The document was addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tudun Wada South Ward in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Minna, Niger State.

In the message, the former party official informed the local leadership that he was withdrawing his membership from the party structure at all levels.

Despite his exit, MaiBasira expressed appreciation to the party for the roles and responsibilities entrusted to him during his time as a member.

He acknowledged that his involvement with the PDP provided him with opportunities to serve both in national leadership positions and in other supporting roles within the party’s organisational framework.

MaiBasira indicated that leaving the party was not an easy choice. He explained that he had remained loyal to the PDP for many years since the time he first joined the organization.

Although he has left the PDP, MaiBasira extended warm wishes to members of the party’s leadership and supporters.

He expressed respect for the ward executives in Minna, as well as for PDP members across Niger State and the country, noting that he continues to hold them in high regard.

At the time of his resignation, MaiBasira did not reveal which political platform he might join next. His next step in Nigeria’s political landscape therefore remains uncertain.

Nevertheless, his exit has generated speculation among political observers.
