Former PDP Youth Leader MaiBasira Resigns From Party

Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira, a former National Youth Leader and National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has officially withdrawn his membership from the party with immediate effect.

In a resignation letter dated December 22, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tudun Wada South Ward, Chanchaga Local Government Area of Minna, MaiBasira expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities he was given to serve in both national and auxiliary roles.

He described his decision to leave the PDP as a deeply difficult one, noting that he had remained committed to the party since he first registered as a member.

According to MaiBasira, evolving political realities forced him to reassess his position, pointing to what he termed “clear and suffocating circumstances” that made it necessary for him to chart a new political path.

Despite his departure, he conveyed goodwill and prayers to members of the PDP Ward Executive and the broader party structure in Minna, Niger State, and across Nigeria, assuring them of his continued respect and warm sentiments.

As at the time of this report, MaiBasira has not publicly announced his next political move.

However, given his longstanding support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, political observers believe that MaiBasira—along with thousands of his loyal supporters who had earlier exited the PDP—may align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is steadily emerging as a key opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
