At least four residents have been killed in a late-night attack by suspected herdsmen at Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Gossip News Now reports that the assailants, reportedly heavily armed, invaded the community around 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, opening fire sporadically and forcing residents to flee for safety.

According to Daily Post, the attack, which lasted for several hours, claimed the lives of Hon. Ochi Ayedu, Eje Uzu, Alinko, and Achibi. Several other residents are still missing following the assault.

This incident follows a similar deadly attack on Otobi-Akpa community just months ago, during which at least 13 people were killed, many others were injured or reported missing, and over 50 houses were destroyed.

In a related development, the Kaduna State Police Command has arrested four suspected bandits in Chikun Local Government Area and recovered 65 cows believed to have been stolen from various communities.

The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit following credible intelligence on cattle rustling and banditry activities in the area.

The police said the suspects were apprehended during a targeted operation in Kakura, Chikun LGA. They have been identified as Ibrahim Shuaibu, alias Magaji, and Buhari Ibrahim, both from Kakura; Musa Haruna from Gora; and Abdullahi Idi from Dan Damisa, Zaria.

A total of 65 cows, suspected to have been stolen, were recovered from the suspects during the operation. Preliminary investigations revealed that the cattle were supplied to them by a suspected bandit named Kyauta from Izuwa, who remains at large.

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend Kyauta.
