Gospel singer Frank Edwards has revealed how the late evangelist, Rev Uma Ukpai, miraculously healed him of asthma and pneumonia when he was just eight years old.
Sharing his testimony in an Instagram post on Monday, Edwards paid tribute to the renowned preacher, who passed away on October 6 at the age of 80, describing him as a man who touched countless lives through faith and healing.
The singer recalled that his healing took place during one of Rev Ukpai’s crusades in Enugu, expressing deep gratitude for the impact the evangelist had on his life.
“At age 8, I got healed of asthma and pneumonia in one of your crusades in Enugu! Thank you for impacting the world in a special way. YOU FINISHED WELL, PAPA. REST ON,” he wrote.
Rev Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA) based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was celebrated for his dynamic crusades, healing services, and humanitarian missions.
Among his notable projects are the Uma Ukpai Eye Centre, King of Kings Hospital, and the Uma Ukpai School of Theology—initiatives that continue to serve communities across Nigeria.
Ukpai’s ministry, which began after a series of profound spiritual encounters, grew to influence millions across Nigeria and other African nations through revival programs and faith-based outreach.
Despite enduring personal tragedy, including the loss of two children in a fatal accident, the evangelist remained steadfast in his mission of service, faith, and compassion.
Following his passing, prominent gospel artists such as Nathaniel Bassey and Moses Bliss joined others in honoring his legacy, describing him as a true general of faith whose impact will endure for generations.
