Amid rising political tension in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has assured residents that the state will not be dragged into another cycle of political instability, emphasizing that his leadership is guided by faith and restraint rather than confrontation.
The governor made the remarks in his New Year message after attending the crossover service at the Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace in Port Harcourt.
Looking ahead, Fubara expressed optimism about the year 2026, describing it as a period of renewed hope and improved prospects for both the state and its people. He said his administration is entering the new year with fresh energy, confidence, and a clear sense of purpose.
Reflecting on the past two years in office, the governor acknowledged that his government has faced significant challenges but maintained a positive outlook for the future.
He stressed that his trust remains firmly in God, noting that his leadership draws strength from spiritual conviction rather than “the tools of conflict.” According to him, those who put their faith in God will never be disgraced.
Governor Fubara also appealed to Rivers residents to remain calm and disregard rumours or reports suggesting looming political unrest. He reaffirmed that his administration remains focused on delivering development and good governance across the state.
He reiterated his commitment to leading with faith, perseverance, and service to the people, describing these principles as the foundation of his government.
While admitting that not all expectations have been met so far, Fubara assured citizens that 2026 would usher in a season of growth, stability, and meaningful transformation for Rivers State.
The governor also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s political future, predicting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.
