Fubara Allegedly Suffers ‘Conscious Amnesia,’ PDP Says

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has developed a psychological attachment to his “captor,” likening his stance to Stockholm syndrome.

Ini Ememobong, the factional National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, made the statement on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television. He expressed sympathy for Fubara over his past challenges but cautioned the governor against misplacing blame.

Ememobong said, “During preparations for the convention, a journalist asked Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State about the party’s actions, and he emphasized that we must acknowledge the difficulties Governor Fubara has faced. However, that does not justify throwing others under the bus because of one’s own actions or inactions.”

He added, “We sympathize with Siminalayi Fubara. This appears to be a case where a captive has fallen in love with the captor and cannot clearly identify the source of his problems. But we frown upon what I would call ‘conscious amnesia,’ where he selectively assigns blame. He knows the origin and continuity of his issues. When he approached the court regarding the defection matter, he was aware of the facts and should be able to acknowledge them.”

Ememobong concluded, “This deflection raises serious questions about whether Governor Fubara is attributing blame to the right parties.”
