Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has disclosed that she has no intention of upgrading to the newly released iPhone 17, despite many of her celebrity colleagues flaunting theirs online.
In a video shared on her Snapchat, Akindele responded to fans who questioned why she hadn’t joined the latest iPhone trend, saying she is perfectly satisfied with the phones she already owns.
According to her, she currently uses three iPhones and a Samsung, which she considers more than enough for her work and personal use.
She revealed that her iPhone 13 holds a special place in her heart because of the videos, memories, and important files stored on it—making her unwilling to let it go.
Akindele explained:
“iPhone 17 for where? No o. This is my iPhone 13 that I had then. I bought iPhone 14, I think I gave it to production. Then there’s iPhone 15 and I have iPhone 16. I’m not buying anything again.”
“I refuse to let go of this 13 because backing up all those things—my WhatsApp, my videos—I don’t want to lose them. I’m attached to it. I’m not going to buy any iPhone 17 again, never.”
She added that she prefers to continue using her current devices instead of spending unnecessarily on another phone:
“Let me be using the ones I have. I have three iPhones and one Samsung. I can’t give you any one. I have things on them. Let it be there.”
The Battle on Buka Street producer’s comments have since sparked discussions online, with many fans praising her for promoting contentment and financial wisdom amid the pressure of luxury trends.
