A prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has rejected suggestions that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is already assured of victory in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a recent interview, Galadima maintained that the race for the presidency is still very much undecided, cautioning Nigerians and the media against drawing premature conclusions about the outcome of the next general election.
The NNPP chieftain, who is widely known to be a close ally of former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, argued on February 4, 2026, that controlling a large number of states does not automatically translate into success at the national level.
He warned that political dominance at the state level should not be mistaken for guaranteed electoral victory, stressing that national elections often produce unexpected results.
Galadima also criticised President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of exercising power in ways that suggest he is above the law. He questioned the notion that any political leader is beyond scrutiny, insisting that democracy must always function within constitutional boundaries.
Emphasising the importance of judicial independence, Galadima said the courts must be allowed to operate without interference or pressure from politicians. According to him, the health of Nigeria’s democracy depends on respect for the rule of law and impartial judicial decisions.
He further dismissed claims that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has become irrelevant or politically exhausted, expressing confidence that the opposition party can rebound.
According to Galadima, the PDP stands a strong chance of reclaiming power in 2027 if it presents a credible and widely acceptable candidate to the electorate.
He also issued a warning against any attempt to manipulate the electoral process, noting that such moves would be firmly resisted by Nigerians.
Concluding, Galadima predicted that Nigeria’s political landscape could undergo significant changes as the next election approaches.
“Go and write it down that I said it,” he declared. “Is Tinubu God? Go and write it down that I say the PDP will win the next presidential election because it can bounce back with the right candidate.”
