Popular gospel singer and evangelist Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Bunmi Omije Ojumi, has passed away.
Gossip News Now reports that fellow gospel artist Alayo Melody announced her death on Tuesday, sharing a family statement on Instagram along with a photo of Bunmi and a video showing her remains in a body bag.
The family confirmed that Bunmi Akinnaanu died on January 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos.
Bunmi Omije Ojumi was celebrated in Christian music circles for her heartfelt worship songs, including Omije Oju Mi and O Ti Sure. Her music was widely embraced in churches, prayer gatherings, and among gospel enthusiasts, often shared for personal devotion and worship.
Concerns about her health had surfaced prior to her death, as videos circulated online showing her battling a serious illness that caused visible swelling in her leg. In one widely shared clip, she was seen praying for God’s healing during a session.
As her condition worsened, fellow gospel artists and colleagues called for prayers and financial support to assist with her medical care, while fans also joined efforts to share her story and seek help.
