The Accord Party in Osun State is set to formally declare Governor Ademola Adeleke as its governorship candidate for the 2026 election on Wednesday.

Gossip News Now reports that Pastor Victor Akande, the state chairman of the party, confirmed the announcement to journalists in Osogbo, emphasizing that Adeleke is the party’s sole aspirant for the ticket.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke is our sole candidate for the 2026 governorship election. We are declaring him today. As you know, he formally defected to our party in November, and we publicly announced him yesterday,” Akande stated.

The exercise will involve about 150 delegates from the state’s 30 local government areas, with five representatives from each council participating.

The declaration follows Governor Adeleke’s public announcement of his defection to the Accord Party and his intention to seek re-election. Speaking at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, on Tuesday, Adeleke said he joined the party on November 6 after “weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”

He explained that the move aims to ensure continuity in delivering good governance across Osun State.

The Accord Party primary will take place in Osogbo, where Adeleke is expected to be officially confirmed as the party’s candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election.
