Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed rumours suggesting he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for another political platform.

Speaking on Saturday in Abuja after the inaugural meeting of the publicity and communications sub-committee for the party’s forthcoming national convention, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP and assured supporters that he remains fully loyal to the party.

Gossip News Now reports that Governor Mohammed expressed concern over the recent wave of defections by some PDP governors and key stakeholders to the All Progressives Congress (APC), but noted that he has no authority to dictate his colleagues’ political choices.

According to him, ongoing discussions are being held within the party to manage the situation and prevent further defections, stressing that the outcome could have been much worse without the internal mediation efforts.

“I assure you, I am not going anywhere. I am in the PDP, and my state has no element of division. As a leader of a group of equals, I cannot dictate the choices of my colleagues,” Mohammed stated.

He added, “A lot of discussions are ongoing behind the scenes. The wave of defections could have been worse, but we are managing it.”

The governor also cautioned those leaving the opposition party against tarnishing its image, urging them to exit honorably if they must.

Meanwhile, Bala Mohammed confirmed that the PDP National Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, will go on as planned despite “external pressures.”

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy, unity, and reform, stating that the PDP remains resilient and focused on reclaiming power in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Mohammed further called on party leaders and members to intensify efforts to reshape public perception, stressing that Nigerians are looking to the PDP for solutions amid the nation’s worsening economic hardship.
