Reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed why she chose to hold her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Nigeria instead of the United Kingdom.
Speaking during a short break with influencer Egungun at her ‘Tacha Beauty Festival’, currently taking place at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture & History in Lagos, the former Big Brother Naija housemate explained that the move was intentional — to spotlight Nigeria’s thriving beauty industry on the global stage.
Tacha disclosed that the initial plan was to host the event in London, but she later decided that Nigeria would provide the right energy and connection she desired.
“The plan was London. We already had plans, we had a brand that wanted to sponsor us, NYX. But I said, London is not the country that will give me the vibe I want. Then I thought, see my people, they are here.”
She emphasized that showcasing the event in Nigeria was her way of giving back and representing the nation proudly.
“It always makes sense to carry your country along. At this point now, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map.”
The media personality further revealed that the GWR attempt had been two years in the making, adding that now was the perfect time to make her vision a reality.
Tacha began her 24-hour makeover marathon on Saturday night, aiming to complete 150 makeovers within the timeframe. Impressively, by early Sunday morning, she had already achieved 115 makeovers in 12 hours, breaking the previous world record of 113 makeovers in 24 hours.
Her determination and patriotism have earned widespread praise online, with fans commending her for showcasing Nigerian talent, creativity, and resilience to a global audience.
