Nigerian singer Harrison Okiri, widely known as Harrysong, has opened up about how his long-standing conflict with former label boss Kcee negatively impacted his career, especially his productivity and creativity.
According to Gossip News Now , tensions between Harrysong and Kcee’s 5ive Star Music became public in 2017 after the singer accused the label of withholding his royalties, restricting his artistic freedom and not giving him fair treatment.
The disagreement intensified when Harrysong alleged that he was behind several of Kcee’s hit songs, a claim that led to a series of exchanges between both parties.
Speaking during an interview on Jusmen 105.7 FM, Harrysong said the rift frequently pulled his attention away from recording new music. Instead of focusing on the studio, he found himself thinking of how to respond to the ongoing dispute, which interfered with his creativity and slowed down his progress.
He confirmed that the issue has since been resolved, noting that he, Kcee and 5ive Star Music have settled their differences. Harrysong added that with time, he has developed a more mature way of handling disagreements.
He emphasized that controversies no longer disrupt his workflow, as he now chooses to concentrate on his career and music without unnecessary distractions.
Reflecting on the situation, Harrysong said: “The beef with Kcee used to distract me; it affected my music. Many times, instead of recording, I was thinking of how to reply Kcee and continue the fight. It really interfered with my creativity.”
