The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State has firmly denied accusations that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is secretly bankrolling the party.
According to Gossip News Now , the allegation originated from a socio-political group known as the Kwara North Development Commission (KNDC), which claimed the governor was quietly supporting the ADC while publicly serving as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Responding to the claim in an interview with Punch on Tuesday, Prof. Isa Gana—a senior figure in the ADC and former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan—dismissed the allegations as nothing more than “a blatant lie.”
Gana, who also previously served as Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, noted that he was not even aware that such a group existed.
“As someone who represents Kwara North Senatorial District, I have no knowledge whatsoever of any Kwara North Development Commission making these accusations against the ADC,” he said.
He expressed disbelief over the logic behind the allegation, questioning why an APC governor would sponsor a competing party intent on taking power from his own.
“How can Governor AbdulRazaq be funding a political party that seeks to unseat his own APC?” Gana asked.
The ADC chieftain emphasized that the party has been mobilising independently across the state, working to present Kwarans with a credible political choice ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The ADC is actively building its structure to give the people of Kwara a genuine alternative in 2027. We have no partnership, collaboration, or sponsorship arrangement with the state government,” he stressed.
Gana urged the KNDC to refrain from spreading baseless accusations, insisting once again that no financial support is coming from Governor AbdulRazaq to the ADC.
