Popular Nigerian skitmaker and singer Lawal Nasiru, widely known as Nasboi, has revealed that he identifies as both a Christian and a Muslim.
The entertainer made this known in a post shared on his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, October 16, 2025, while reflecting on his diverse cultural and religious background.
Nasboi explained that his father is a Yoruba Muslim, while his mother is a Christian from Warri, Delta State, a mix he says has shaped his open-mindedness and made it impossible for him to be a religious or tribal bigot.
“My papa Yoruba, my mama Warri. My papa Muslim, my mama Christian,” he wrote.
“I was born and raised in Port Harcourt. I studied at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom. This is why I can never relate to tribalism or all the religious agendas.”
In response to a curious fan who asked whether he identifies as Christian or Muslim, Nasboi gave a witty and humorous reply, saying he is “Christmus” — a blend of both faiths.
“I am Christmus [both Christian and Muslim],” he wrote.
His post quickly gained attention online, sparking mixed reactions. While some fans praised his inclusive outlook and sense of humor, others accused him of being confused about his religious identity.
Despite the debate, Nasboi’s comment has once again highlighted his reputation for using humor to tackle social and cultural issues in Nigeria.
