Popular Nigerian singer Aituaje Iruobe, widely known as Waje, has revealed the qualities she looks for in a life partner — and financial struggle is not one of them.
Speaking during an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old artist made it clear that she cannot date or marry a man who has not achieved a certain level of success.
According to Waje, her age and life experiences have shaped her expectations in relationships, and she no longer has the time to “grow with” someone financially.
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful,” she said.
“I’m not in my 20s, so we are not growing together. A man leads by selling aspirations to me. If he cannot inspire me to grow, then we can’t be partners.”
Waje added that beyond success, other important qualities she values include emotional intelligence and faith.
The singer also disclosed that she cannot date a younger man, explaining that the dynamic would not work for her personality.
“We will have issues,” she said.
“I’m very pragmatic, and sometimes I have to hold myself even with my siblings and friends. Imagine if it was a husband. He would get tired — I would treat him like a child, and he would hate me.”
Waje’s comments have sparked conversations about relationship expectations, personal growth, and financial compatibility in modern relationships.
