Veteran Nigerian rapper Naetochukwu Chikwe, popularly known as Naeto C, has opened up about the reasons he stepped back from his music career.
Gossip News Now reports that the artiste, in a recent podcast interview, said the decision to slow down was a personal one influenced by family life and his long-term goals.
Naeto C explained that after getting married in 2012 and welcoming his first child in 2013, he began to reassess how music fit into the future he envisioned for himself and his family.
According to him, continuing to focus fully on music no longer aligned with the kind of life he wanted to build.
“I wanted something different when I thought about my future and the life I desired. I got married in 2012 and had my first child in 2013. Looking back, I don’t think I would have achieved the kind of life I wanted if I had continued to focus solely on music,” he said.
The rapper also reflected on how his journey into music began, noting that his early years in the industry were driven by passion rather than the pursuit of fame or financial gain.
He said music came naturally to him, and his rise in the entertainment industry happened organically as he followed his love for the craft.
Naeto C further revealed that he had hoped to release new music this year, but personal challenges delayed those plans.
However, he assured fans that work is ongoing behind the scenes and expressed optimism about releasing fresh material in the coming year.
Naeto C rose to prominence in the mid-2000s as one of the leading voices in Nigerian hip hop. His hit songs, including Ten Over Ten, played a key role in shaping the rap scene at the time.
Beyond his commercial success, he remains widely respected for his influence on a new generation of Nigerian rappers.
