Nene Aderigbigbe, mother of singer Ayra Starr, has revealed why she chose to completely cut ties with three of her close friends.
Gossip News Now reports that in a post on her Instagram page, Nene reflected on past decisions and questioned whether her reactions at the time were too strong.
Looking back, she explained that each friendship ended for distinct personal reasons that left her feeling uncomfortable.
She said the first friendship broke down due to a serious breach of trust.
According to Nene, the friend disclosed a private conversation she had with her husband without her consent.
Feeling deeply betrayed, Nene believed that personal conversations between friends should remain confidential. That incident led her to cut off all communication with the friend, and they have not spoken since.
The second friendship ended because of the friend’s husband. Nene shared that he would frequently reach out to her, sharing personal details about his life and movements, which she found unnecessary and intrusive.
She made it clear that her friendship was only with his wife and that any interaction with him made her uncomfortable, prompting her to distance herself entirely.
The third friendship, Nene explained, ended because she felt emotionally drained. She said the friend, who had been married for over twenty years, repeatedly called to complain about her husband.
Over time, Nene felt exhausted by the constant complaints and realized she could not continue to serve as a sounding board for marital issues she had no way of resolving.
She added that she never felt the need to justify her actions to any of the three friends.
“To this day, they don’t fully understand why I stopped speaking to them,” Nene said, “but these decisions were necessary to protect my peace of mind.”
