Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has opened up about a terrifying near-death experience that occurred during what was supposed to be a routine tonsil surgery.
The hip-hop star revealed that the medical operation took place around the same time he released his chart-topping single, “Declan Rice.” However, the seemingly simple procedure unexpectedly turned into a five-hour medical emergency, leaving him fearing for his life.
According to Odumodublvck, the surgery—which should have lasted just 20 to 30 minutes—became complicated, forcing his surgeon to seek help for the first time in over a decade of practice. In a miraculous twist, a second doctor who was typically far away from the hospital happened to be nearby at a filling station and rushed in just in time to assist.
Sharing the emotional story in a viral video, the rapper recalled the fear and despair he felt during the ordeal.
“That’s so crazy because I thought I was going to die. When I dropped Declan Rice, that’s when I did the surgery. I took out my tonsils. The surgery of 20 or 30 minutes took five hours,” he said.
He continued:
“The doctor told me that in 12 years of doing that surgery, he had never asked for help. But that day, he did. The person he called was supposed to be an hour away, but he was just two minutes away at a filling station. He came in quietly, helped with the operation, and left like an angel.”
Odumodublvck revealed that after the surgery, he was overwhelmed by fear and believed he would not survive. He even told his 71-year-old mother that he might not make it.
“When the surgery was done, I thought I was going to die. I told my mum, ‘I’m not going to make it,’” he said.
Thankfully, the rapper made a full recovery. His fans have since praised him for sharing the experience, calling it a reminder of faith, fate, and resilience in the face of life’s most unpredictable moments.
