Nigerian rapper Olamide has opened up about the profound influence the late DaGrin has had on his music and the inspiration he continues to provide to artists nationwide.
Gossip News Now reports that Olamide described DaGrin’s 2009 album C.E.O as a timeless work that still impacts him and fellow rappers.
In a viral video, the rapper noted that the album is one of the few rap projects in which many people in the South West can recite every line, making it a reliable source of encouragement during creative slumps.
He added that revisiting DaGrin’s tracks helps him push past artistic blocks.
Olamide said: “DaGrin’s C.E.O album is timeless. It’s one of those rap albums almost everyone in the South West can sing word for word. He influenced countless rappers. Whenever we need motivation, we turn to his album.”
DaGrin, born Oladapo Olaonipekun, tragically died in a car accident in April 2010.
Following his death, his music gained even greater popularity.
