Nigerian Grammy award-winner Burna Boy has opened up about his ongoing spiritual struggle, revealing that even after transitioning from Christianity to Islam, he still feels uncertain about where he stands.
Speaking in a conversation with streamer Playboymax, the Afrofusion star said his lifelong quest to understand religion has only deepened his confusion.
“I grew up Christian before converting to Islam. I feel like I’ve studied everything, but I’m still out here trying to figure out what’s really going on. The more I research, the more confused I get,” he shared.
Burna Boy noted that his shift in faith was driven by a genuine desire to seek truth beyond the religion he was born into. However, he added that reading religious teachings and exploring different beliefs has not provided the clarity he expected.
“Most times, you just follow what your parents believe because that’s what you were raised in,” he said, explaining how upbringing often shapes religious identity.
The “City Boys” hitmaker described his journey as a continuous search for truth and spiritual clarity.
His remarks come months after fellow Nigerian artist 9ice disclosed that he left Islam to embrace the Ifa tradition, claiming a spiritual attack left him bedridden for six months.
