Nigerian singer Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has urged President Bola Tinubu to tackle insecurity by improving the welfare and salaries of security operatives across the country.

In a message shared on Instagram, the artist expressed concern over the low earnings of personnel in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and other security agencies despite the high-risk nature of their work.

Harrysong noted that those who put their lives on the line daily deserve better compensation, adding that improved welfare would boost morale and strengthen the nation’s fight against crime.

He appealed to the government to make the profession more rewarding for frontline officers.

He wrote:

“To Mr President: If you truly want to end insecurity in Nigeria, start by increasing the salaries and allowances of the armed forces. The pay for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Nigerian Police is too small and shameful. Increase their salary—this job should be worth dying for. Please, increase their salaries.”

In a related development, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie recently criticised President Tinubu over the state of the nation, as Nigerians continue to live in fear amid rising cases of kidnapping across the country.
