Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has shared his thoughts on the ongoing African tour of American YouTuber Darren Jason Watkins Jr., popularly known as iShowSpeed.
Gossip News Now recalls that the streamer recently visited Lagos State, Nigeria, as part of his Africa tour and is currently continuing the tour in Ghana.
In an Instagram post, Kunle Remi described iShowSpeed’s visit to Nigeria as the most shocking on his list, claiming that Nigerians “stripped Lagos naked.”
According to the actor, the experience highlighted a loss of cultural essence, with people prioritising begging over authentic displays of tradition.
He wrote:
“After watching iShowSpeed’s journey so far, Nigeria is the worst on my own list. We just really stripped Lagos naked… no be say anything dey under the clothes before sha.
Seems like we have lost the essence of culture, our truth! All we have is fake drinks and beggy, beggy skills.”
Meanwhile, iShowSpeed has explained why he is not collaborating with content creators during his Africa tour.
The YouTuber said the tour’s primary purpose is to showcase the culture of different African countries, rather than focus on online collaborations.
According to him, the main goal is to highlight daily life, street performers with talent, and local people who are rarely featured on global platforms.
He added that each stop on the tour is pre-planned by his team and follows a strict timetable, with fixed locations to visit in every country and very little flexibility to alter the schedule.
