Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has responded to viral claims suggesting he was arrested in London over an alleged altercation with his wife, Natasha.
The Allegation
A blogger had earlier reported that 2Baba missed his UK tour appearance on Thursday because he was detained for domestic violence. The story quickly spread online, sparking speculation about his marriage and personal life.
2Baba’s Response
Addressing the rumors via Instagram, the singer clarified that his absence was due to a medical emergency and not an arrest. He expressed gratitude to fans and organizers while urging people to avoid spreading unverified claims.
“First of all, I want to say everyone that came out, I appreciate you. We had a medical emergency, it was tough. To the organizers and everyone that came out, we go regroup and make something beautiful happen. And please, if una no sabi something, make una no talk abeg. This allegedly, I don tire.”
Management Speaks Out
Meanwhile, 2Baba’s management at A Guy Entertainment dismissed suggestions that his marriage controversies are affecting his legacy.
Chioma Ebubedike-Igbokwe, Head of Legal and Communication, emphasized that 2Baba’s contributions to afrobeats remain undeniable and foundational.
“The current global dominance of afrobeats rests on the foundation built by pioneers like Idibia. Distractions on social media cannot diminish his impact,” she said.
The Bigger Picture
Despite ongoing discussions surrounding his personal life — including his divorce from Annie Idibia and marriage to Natasha Osawuru, a lawmaker in Edo State — 2Baba’s camp insists his musical influence remains indispensable.
