United States President Donald Trump has indicated that the US may conduct additional military strikes in Nigeria if attacks on Christians persist.
Gossip News Now reports that Trump made the remarks in an interview with the New York Times, following a US military operation on Christmas Day targeting Islamic State militants in northwest Nigeria, reportedly conducted at the request of the Nigerian government.
While expressing hope that the December strike would be a single occurrence, Trump warned that further operations could be launched if violence against Christians continues.
“I’d love to make it a one-time strike,” Trump said. “But if they continue to kill Christians, it will be a many-time strike.”
He acknowledged that Muslims have also suffered attacks but maintained that Christians remain the primary targets:
“I think that Muslims are being killed also in Nigeria. But it’s mostly Christians.”
Trump has repeatedly described the situation of Christians in Nigeria as urgent, suggesting that US military intervention could occur if Nigerian authorities fail to ensure their protection.
In related news, hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reportedly been denied a presidential pardon.
Gossip News Now reports that the 56-year-old music executive, currently serving a multi-year prison sentence for prostitution-related convictions, sent a written appeal for clemency to President Trump. However, the US President has made it clear that he has no intention of granting the request.
