Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has been named among the Premier League’s most creative players this season, securing fifth place in a new creativity ranking released by statistics platform WhoScored.
Iwobi has created 23 chances for Fulham so far, making him the club’s most productive player in the final third. Only four players across the league sit above him.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes leads the list with 40 key passes, followed by Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai with 28. Arsenal’s Declan Rice ranks third with 27, while Nottingham Forest youngster Elliot Anderson is just ahead of Iwobi on 25.
Iwobi’s sharpness in possession has also translated into direct contributions in front of goal, as he has scored two goals and provided two assists in 15 league appearances this season. Since his €25.7 million move from Everton two years ago, he has steadily become a core figure under Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.
Last season marked a career-best campaign for the midfielder, ending with nine goals and six assists in Fulham colours. His confidence and maturity have carried into the current season, and he is expected to play a key role for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Iwobi, who has earned 86 caps for the Super Eagles and scored 10 goals, is tipped to make the final squad alongside club teammates Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze.
Gossip News Now reports that FIFA has instructed clubs to release players for AFCON duty by Monday, December 15. Nigeria will compete in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania, opening camp in Egypt on December 10. An unofficial friendly against the hosts is scheduled for December 16.
The Super Eagles kick off their tournament on December 23 against Tanzania in Fès, face Tunisia on December 27 in their headline group fixture, and conclude the group stage against Uganda on December 31.
