The All Progressives Congress (APC) membership e-registration exercise in Zamfara State has become a subject of contention after senior party figure, Aminu Sani Jaji, raised concerns over alleged exclusion and manipulation.
Jaji, who leads the Jajiyya Political Movement, accused former governor Abdulaziz Yari and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of purportedly taking control of the entire registration process.
Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, Jaji alleged that the duo, in collaboration with the APC National Organising Secretary, intentionally shut out his faction as well as the state’s Organising Secretary, Bashir Ahmad Gusau, from participating in the exercise.
He stated that such actions compromise fairness, openness and the principles of internal democracy within the party, warning that this type of exclusion could destabilize the APC in Zamfara State.
Drawing comparisons to developments ahead of the 2019 general elections, Jaji claimed that similar internal schemes were used to sideline former governor Ahmed Sani Yeriman Bakura—an approach he argued weakened the party at the time.
He urged the APC national leadership to launch an impartial probe into the allegations and impose sanctions where necessary against any officials found to be engaged in anti-democratic conduct.
Jaji also advised the party to issue clear procedural guidelines to ensure full compliance with the APC constitution and operational standards during the ongoing e-registration exercise.
He further appealed to journalists and independent monitors to closely observe the process, reaffirming that his movement remains committed to transparency, accountability and adherence to due process within the APC.
