Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua has successfully made weight for his much-anticipated fight against Jake Paul, stepping on the scales at 110.6kg (17st 7lb) ahead of their December 19 clash in Miami.

The two-time heavyweight world champion must not exceed 111kg for the six-round contest—a notable restriction for a fighter accustomed to weighing freely in a division where weight cuts are rare.

In a brief social media video, Joshua appeared on the scales, nodded at the reading, and told viewers:
“They must have forgotten. I’m used to dealing with big weights and scales.”

The bout has captured widespread attention due to the stark differences in experience and size between the fighters. Paul, 28, transitioned to boxing from YouTube and has primarily fought at cruiserweight, with his heaviest professional weight recorded at 16st 3lb during last year’s bout with Mike Tyson.

In contrast, Joshua has built his career among the elite, boasting Olympic gold and two world heavyweight titles.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed that Paul’s team initially requested an even lower weight limit, but both camps eventually agreed on the 111kg cap. The fighters are set to use standard 10-oz gloves for the match.

The matchup has also drawn commentary from former undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated Joshua in two grueling fights. Speaking to Boxing Scene, Usyk said:
“If Anthony Joshua wants, he will kill this guy. Listen, a lot of questions… Anthony Joshua is an Olympic champion first. Jake Paul, yeah, a sportsman, a YouTuber, a showman. Joshua is Rolls-Royce; Jake is a Fiat.”

Usyk added with a hint of humour:
“Yes, I will pray for Jake Paul. Because I want to fight him in the octagon.”

The Miami showdown is now set, with fans eagerly awaiting the spectacle of experience meeting entertainment in the ring.
