Kefas Dismisses Claims of Rift With Danjuma, Accuses Critics of Spreading Falsehoods

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has alleged that certain individuals have been deliberately spreading false information about him to elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd.).

The governor made the remarks while receiving a delegation of traditional rulers from Wukari, his hometown, during a solidarity visit at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

Kefas firmly rejected rumours suggesting a breakdown in his relationship with the retired general, stressing that their bond remains strong and unshaken.

According to him, ongoing political speculations about a supposed rift between the two prominent Taraba figures are unfounded and misleading, despite having circulated for months and stirred debate about the state’s political future ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Welcoming the visiting monarchs, the governor expressed appreciation for their support and thanked God for the privilege of leading the state.

“I thank God for the opportunity to govern Taraba State and for broadening my perspective beyond Wukari,” Kefas said. “Leadership must be inclusive. Taraba is home to more than 80 ethnic groups, and every one of them deserves quality governance.”

He also praised General Danjuma for believing in him and supporting his emergence as governor, noting that the former defence minister fully understands his capacity, discipline, and vision for Taraba State.

“Some people go to General Danjuma to speak against me,” the governor said, “but he knows me better than they do. As a soldier, he understands leadership, discipline, and competence. He is not bothered by those who go to tell lies about me.”

Governor Kefas further encouraged residents of the state to register in large numbers with the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing political alignment with the ruling party at the federal level as crucial for attracting development and opportunities.

“We must mobilise for the APC,” he added. “The advantages of being aligned with the centre are evident, and Taraba will continue to reap the benefits.”
