Nigerian actress and media personality, Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, has opened up about a life-changing moment of intense prayer that shifted the trajectory of her career back in 2018.
Speaking on the Off The Top podcast, Kiekie recounted how her fashion business was struggling at the time, leaving her emotionally exhausted and uncertain about her future. The pressure became so overwhelming that she withdrew from everyone, isolating herself for days. She pretended to be out of town just to create space for silence, reflection, and prayer.
During those secluded days, she wore the same outfit, barely ate, and spent most of her time on the floor or in bed, crying to God for direction. She described the period as one of the most difficult phases of her life.
Her breakthrough came unexpectedly on the third or fourth day when a woman called her for a sewing job. She immediately rushed out to meet the client—even without taking a bath. That single job, she said, became the beginning of a new upward journey.
According to her, everything started to change from that moment in 2018, and her career has continued to grow steadily since then.
She said:
“I locked myself up for days. No food, no bathing, no change of clothes. I was practically on the floor crying. I told God, I need you to turn my life around.
“I hadn’t even had a bath. I just brushed and ran to Ikeja. That was the beginning.
“From 2018 till now, it has been fantastic, fantastic.”
