Nigerian dancer Korra Obidi has sparked controversy after a video of her dancing at the grave of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti circulated widely on social media.

Gossip News Now reports that Obidi visited the gravesite and shared a clip on her Instagram, showing herself performing a lively dance as a tribute.

Korra explained that her performance was intended to honour Fela, noting that the late musician celebrated bold expression and energetic women.

“The dance was my way of reflecting the liveliness and spirit of Fela’s music and life,” she said. She added that Seun Kuti, Fela’s son, approved of the gesture during her visit, viewing it as in keeping with the late icon’s style.

Despite her explanation, many social media users criticised the dancer, arguing that performing at a grave was inappropriate and disrespectful.
