The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Samson Oghenebreme, for allegedly being in possession of human organs intended for ritual purposes.
According to police reports, Oghenebreme was intercepted on April 25, 2025, in the Odomola community of Epe while transporting the body parts from Edo State to a native doctor who was expected to use them in money-making rituals.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said officers attached to the Odo-Noforija Division acted swiftly on credible intelligence from concerned residents, leading to the suspect’s arrest before he could complete the delivery.
The recovered organs have been deposited at the General Hospital in Epe for preservation, while the case has been transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended both the vigilance of community members and the prompt response of officers, stressing the importance of public cooperation in tackling ritual-related crimes.
“This arrest underscores our commitment to safeguarding lives and property. We urge residents to continue reporting suspicious activities,” CP Jimoh said.
Authorities have warned the public to remain vigilant as ritual-related crimes remain a persistent threat in parts of Nigeria.
