Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has spoken emotionally about the heartbreaking loss of his two close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, who died in a tragic car crash along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

According to Gossip News Now, Joshua opened up about the devastating incident during a conversation with former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, in a video shared on Usman’s YouTube channel on Wednesday.

The discussion occurred while Joshua was undergoing medical treatment after sustaining injuries in the December 29 accident. The recording was made shortly before the MMA event held in Lagos on December 30.

Joshua, who survived the crash, was rescued from the wrecked vehicle and taken to Duchess International Hospital, where he received urgent care. In the video, the visibly wounded boxer lay on a treatment bed with bandages around his head and torso, speaking candidly about the ordeal.

At one point, Usman asked Joshua about the seating arrangement inside the black Lexus at the time of the accident. Joshua revealed that one of his late friends was seated in front while the other was positioned behind him.

“One was in the front and one was behind him, on the right side. They both passed away. It still hasn’t sunk in. It still hasn’t hit me yet,”

Usman, deeply affected by the revelation, offered his condolences and acknowledged the global shock that followed news of the crash.

“I’m sorry for that, man. You scared the world, I’ll tell you that right now,”

Reflecting on the tragedy, Joshua spoke about the uncertainty and fragility of life.

Usman agreed, noting how unpredictable life can be.

“I know. It’s a funny way of how things move, you know? We thank God.”

He added that the incident highlighted Joshua’s global influence and how much people genuinely care about him.

“You scared the world… it sucks that it takes something serious like this to really see how many people have their eyes on you.”

Following his discharge, Joshua has returned to the United Kingdom to continue his recovery.

Earlier on Sunday, he broke his silence with a post across his social media pages, sharing a heartfelt photo taken with the families of the deceased to show support and unity.

He captioned the image simply:
“My Brother’s Keeper.”
