Nollywood actress and media personality Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo 1, has revealed that she would prefer being a second wife in a polygamous marriage to being a man’s side chick.

Speaking during a recent podcast with her colleague Bimbo Akintola, Lolo 1 emphasized that she values honesty and openness in relationships, adding that a man who chooses polygamy is at least being transparent about his intentions.

“I would rather a man be polygamous than for him to be married and have a side chick. That’s the one I would not contend with,” she said.

According to the actress, polygamous arrangements create fairness and order, as co-wives are aware of each other and share turns, unlike secret affairs that breed deception and emotional betrayal.

“In a polygamous setup, there’s structure — everyone knows their place. But when a man has a side chick, he’s lying and disrespecting his wife. I prefer honesty,” she added.

During the conversation, veteran actress Bimbo Akintola offered a contrasting view, suggesting that the culture of secret relationships in Nigeria stems from men marrying women they deem “wife material” instead of the women they truly love.

She argued that this emotional disconnect pushes many men into infidelity, as they seek genuine affection outside their marriages.

Her remarks come months after Akintola publicly introduced her partner, Emmanuel Lawrence, in a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating his birthday.

In the post, she expressed deep affection for Lawrence and shared photos of the two looking joyful together, marking a new chapter in her personal life.
