Campaign banners promoting Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for the 2027 presidency were prominently displayed at the Ibadan venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention on Friday.

At Adamasingba Stadium, where the PDP is holding its November 15–16 convention, large posters featuring Makinde’s image were positioned at entrances and throughout the facility.

One banner, attributed to a group called Lana Fun Seyi, boldly proclaimed: “Seyi Makinde for President.” Another, credited to Fapetu Stephen from Ido Local Government, read: “Relax, Seyi Makinde will fix Nigeria 2027.”

The eye-catching displays immediately drew the attention of delegates, party leaders, and observers arriving in the Oyo State capital.

Though speculation about Makinde’s presidential ambition has been circulating for months, the governor has insisted he will reveal his plans “when the time is right” and dismissed previous reports as “unsolicited commentary,” emphasizing he does not need anyone’s permission to discuss his political future.

The stadium also featured banners for other PDP aspirants, including former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Turaki, who is seeking the national chairmanship, and former Deputy National Chairman Taofeek Arapaja, promoting his bid for the position of PDP National Secretary.

The mix of posters from aspirants, state chapters, and supporter groups created a lively pre-convention atmosphere as thousands of delegates arrived in Ibadan.

The convention is expected to elect a new National Working Committee (NWC) to lead the party into the 2027 general elections.
